Michael Laufer, MD, is Founder and Chairman of the Board. He is the founder of more than eight medical companies including: VNUS Medical, Asthmatx, Broncus Technologies, SURx, CoRepair, Lytn and Cithara Endoscopy. His inventions are the subject of roughly 100 issued or in process patents. Dr. Laufer serves on the Board of Directors of several private companies. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado, B.S. in Biological Sciences – MCDB, with distinction, and the Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA and did a post-graduate fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.
Glendon French is President and Chief Executive Officer of Asthmatx, Inc. and has been an NDO Surgical director since the company’s inception. Mr. French previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Broncus Technologies, Inc. Prior to joining Broncus, Mr. French served as Vice President, Marketing and Business Development for the surgical division of C.R. Bard, Inc., and held positions of increasing responsibility in marketing and sales with Centocor and American Hospital Supply Corporation. Mr. French holds a B.A. in history from Dartmouth College, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Ross Jaffe, MD specializes in early-stage investing in medical devices. Dr. Jaffe co-founded Versant Ventures in 1999 after spending nine years at Brentwood Venture Capital where, as a general partner, he led investments in medical devices, drug delivery, and healthcare information systems companies. He has served as a director of St. Francis Medical Technologies, Therasense, Novacept, Micro Interventional Systems, Aradigm, Webster Laboratories, Atrionix, and Pro•Duct Health. Dr. Jaffe currently serves on the boards of Insulet, Calypso Medical Technologies, Ablation Frontiers, NDO Surgical, and Acclarent. He earned his BA in Policy Studies from Dartmouth in 1980, his MD from Johns Hopkins in 1985, and his MBA from Stanford in 1990.
Kevin Wasserstein specializes in investing and building early-stage medical device companies at Versant Ventures. Mr. Wasserstein currently serves as a director for Cellutions, NDO Surgical, and Rox Medical, and as a board participant for Acclarent, LipoSonix, NeoGuide Systems, Second Sight Medical, and The Innovation Factory. He has more than fourteen years of venture capital and operating experience in medical device and high technology companies. Mr. Wasserstein holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering, as well as an MBA, all from Stanford University.
Paul Goldenheim, MD, represents Polaris Ventures on NDO’s Board of Directors. Dr. Goldenheim is a consultant to several venture capital and biotech companies. Dr. Goldenheim was President of TransForm Pharmaceuticals, Inc., based in Lexington, Massachusetts from May 2004 through February 2006. Prior to joining TransForm, Dr. Goldenheim was the Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Purdue Pharma L.P. in Stamford, Connecticut. Dr. Goldenheim received his A.B. from Harvard College magna cum laude with highest honors in biochemical sciences and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Goldenheim's postgraduate medical training in Boston included Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital and Pulmonary Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in both specialties.
